Preserving, restoring, and sharing the history, heritage and habitats of this wonderful area for our children, tourists, and our future
About Bonebrake Discovery Camp
Bonebrake Discovery Camp is an outdoor educational camp providing children with an enthusiastic experience of the outdoors, coupled with art, and cultural programs. All are designed to nourish and strengthen, as well as enrich the growing child. Bonebrake Discovery Camp gives children quality experiences in nature. They will have opportunities to participate in scavenger hunts and geocaching, catch and identify very small pond animals, learn about Missouri snakes, dissect owl pellets and make molds of animal tracks. In addition, the children will dye a tee shirt, make nature jewelry, carve soap, quilt, learn flag etiquette and make paper. The camp’s goal is to help each child develop an attitude of respect and wonder for nature, culture and art, along with a love of learning. Bonebrake is a setting of 12 beautiful, natural, wooded and open acres in the heart of Salem. Care is taken by our instructors and counselors to provide for the children a rich environment that bring nurturing, guidance, and cooperation where discovery and creativity will flourish.
